Proxying a Marriage Proposal

Teresa,

proxy-ing? Is that even a word? Probably not...

But here's the thing. As you are no doubt aware, there are a lot of people on the TLC message boards who have no life. I just happen to one of them. Recently there is a poster who claims to be a guy named Mike -- of Italian descent, lives in NYC, age 35, divorced and recently split from a psycho fiance he not-so-lovingly refers to as Satana. (You'll notice I say 'claims' to be; since this is the 'net he could really be a 40 year old female in Pocatello -- we'll never know!)

Mike claims that the one and only thing that will redeem his life and make it worth living is to marry Teresa Strasser. He has offered a John Deere riding lawn mower and $25,000 to the one of us on the board who can make this happen for him. He recently upped the ante with the promise of a shoe buying trip in Manhattan -- that's when I said the stakes were finally high enough to take action!

Now, obviously none of us expects anything of the sort. This is just a silly banter game that's being played out on the message board. But, if you're willing, it might be fun to play with him a little bit. Maybe you could send me an e-mail letting him down in a way only Teresa Strasser could? And I could post it for him. (Unless, of course, you want to brave the boards yourself.) Of course, if you reject him outright, he might move on to Chayse Dacoda. I don't know, I think I can better stomach the idea of a guy lusting after you than after Chayse.

For what it's worth -- even though you don't know me and have no idea if my judgment is worth a hoot -- I don't get any bad vibes from Mike at all. He's actually somewhat amusing at times.

And finally I would like to say, from most of us no life folks on the TLC boards, that we really miss you on WYWO. You brought wit, humor and warmth to the show that can not easily be replaced. You, Andrew and Leslie always seemed to work so well together that the interactions between the three of you made the show well worth watching. We wish you well in all your endeavors and watch for you all over the tube!

Sincerely,

Karen
