This Strasser Person ...
'Twas a long day, longer week, saving a small bit of the world from bad guys
takes a toll. Had some Friday night doldrums, dropped my guard and my weary ass
into the couch, and hit the TV remote. Some show entitled "While You Were Out"
pops up. Sigh, another fixer-upper crew running askew and playing fault games
with one another as the clock ticks melodramatically away. Geez.
Wait a minute; I'm in need of an energy transfusion most likely to be a good
night's sleep, but whassup here? Who is this woman who seems to be the hub of a
bunch of worker bees. Very easy on the eye. I love the way she handles that
telephone, but I refuse to allow renegade male behavior to take over my
composure. I got this box on to see the techno-stuff, not get slack-jawed over
another nice profile on the tube. But that's bullshit - she's foxy (an old 70's
term - forgive me).
A refreshing lack of the usual tweedle-dee theme-program host babble, so before
long, I was watching this episode with some degree of attention. Not,
unfortunately, so much the intended purpose of the show's creators as my own
sense of what I wanted out of it. I'm convinced that a beautiful woman, while
part of a plot, can become The Plot, given the inherent weakness of we males
about such things. That happened here. Great ponderings, but, alas, the hour
was over, and life returned to normal. Mostly.
It was probably the bowl of bittersweet chocolate ice cream that caused me to
wander in and cue up Google, and yeah, look up this Strasser. And read about
her, and some of her work. Good stuff, too. And a Jewish girl, no less, with
good roots and well-grounded for such a young lass. She has taken over as my
fantasy for a few days or weeks. Just slipped right in place. Some days I'm so
damned glad I get to live in the 21st Century. Life is funny; we can do all
these vicarious things, with no penalty as long as they stay aloft.
So, Ms. Strasser, that's what you did to my Friday night. It has been a
pleasure. Thank you.
